En-Hou Han received his PhD degreefrom Northeastern University in 1990. From 1995 to 1998, he did his researchwork in Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). After returning to China,he was selected as “Talents Program” of Chinese Academy of Sciences, asecond-level researcher and doctoral supervisor. He is currently the director of Institute of Corrosion Science and Technology(ICOST), the director of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials (APAM),the director of National Engineering Research Center for Corrosion Control,the director of Key Laboratory of NuclearMaterials and Safety Assessment, CAS, the director of Corrosion Control Engineering Laboratory, CAS,the director of World Corrosion Organization (WCO) China Office. Former president of the World CorrosionOrganization (WCO), vice president of ChineseSociety for Corrosion and Protection, vice president of China IndustryAnticorrosion Technology Association.
He engaged in the research andapplication of corrosion mechanism, corrosion resistant materials, corrosioncontrol technology, corrosion service safety evaluation and life evaluation ofengineering structure and equipment for a long time. A variety of corrosioncontrol and service safety assessment technology has been developed and used invarious fields such as the nuclear power plant, airplanes, pipeline, powergrids, ships, automobiles. He has been the chief scientist of the National"973" Corrosion Project for three times, the principal of majornational science and technology special projects, and the principal of nationalkey fund projects.
As the first accomplisher, he wontwo second prizes of National Technological Invention Awards (2006, 2018), onesecond prize of National Scientific and Technological Progress Awards (2009),the second prize of China standard innovation contribution award (2021),science and technology promotion development award of Chinese Academy ofSciences (2018), two first prizes of technical invention of Liaoning province(2005, 2016), two first prizes of science and technology progress of Liaoningprovince (2007, 2012), first prize of technology invention of China nuclearindustry association (2016).
He has published more than 600papers, cited more than 22,000 times, H factor of 74. More than 130 authorizedinvention patents (including 3 U.S. patents). To draft and publish 4 nationalstandards, 2 industrial standards and 17 group standards. Co-authored 10compiled books (including chapters). More than 170 conferences and invitationreports at domestic and abroad (more than 80 international and more than 90domestic). Trained more than 100 graduate students.
He won the Willis Rodney WhitneyAward of NACE International Award (2016, the first Chinese winner since theAward was established over 70 years ago), Ho Leung Ho Lee Science andTechnology Progress Award(2012), Ryukiti Hasiguti Foundation Award (2011), Qian Sanqiang Science and Technology Award(2021) during the 11th Five-Year Plan National Science and Technology PlanImplementation Outstanding Contribution Award Advanced Individual (2011),National Outstanding Science and Technology Worker (2010), Fellow of NACE International(USA, 2008), Academician of Asia Pacific Academy of Materials Science (2003),Selected as National Candidate of New Century Millions of Talents Project(2006), received special government allowance of the State Council (2000).
